Wattle Paediatrics Pty Ltd (ABN 49 702 779 119) operates https://wattlepaediatrics.online and provides paediatric health and wellness services to children and families across Melbourne VIC. We recognise that the trust you place in us includes trust in how we handle your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Why we collect personal information
We collect personal information so that we can provide safe, appropriate and high-quality paediatric services. This includes responding to enquiries, preparing quotes, scheduling appointments, delivering care, maintaining accurate health records and meeting our legal and professional obligations.
2. What information we collect
Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect:
- the name and date of birth of the child receiving services;
- the name, relationship and contact details (email address) of the parent, guardian or carer;
- health, developmental and background information you choose to share with us;
- details of referrals from general practitioners, paediatricians, schools or early intervention providers, where you have consented to those referrals;
- the content of enquiries and quote requests submitted through our website or by email; and
- basic website usage information such as browser type, device type and pages visited.
3. Sensitive information and children
Health information about children is classified as sensitive information under the Privacy Act and attracts the highest level of protection under the APPs. We only collect sensitive information with the consent of a parent, guardian or legally authorised carer, or where otherwise authorised or required by law. Information about children is used solely for the purpose of delivering safe and appropriate care and is never used for marketing or unrelated purposes.
4. How we collect information
Wherever reasonably practicable, we collect personal information directly from you — for example, when you complete a form on this website, send us an email, or speak with us during an appointment. We may also receive information from referrers or other treating providers where you have given consent for that information to be shared with us.
5. How we use and disclose information
We use and disclose personal information only for the purposes described in this policy or as permitted under the APPs. We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information:
- with your consent;
- to referrers or other treating health professionals involved in your child's care, where appropriate;
- to service providers who host or support our systems, under contractual confidentiality and privacy obligations;
- where we are required or authorised to do so by law, court order or professional obligation.
6. Overseas disclosure
Our core records are stored within Australia. Some website hosting, email or analytics providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps, in line with APP 8, to ensure that any overseas recipient handles your personal information in a manner consistent with the APPs.
7. Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, consistent with APP 11. This includes access controls, secure storage and careful handling practices. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including any record-keeping obligations that apply to health information under Victorian law. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or ensure it is de-identified.
8. Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use cookies and basic analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to improve its performance. These tools do not identify individual families. You may adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, although some parts of the website may then function less smoothly.
9. Access to and correction of your information
Under APP 12 and APP 13, you have a right to request access to the personal information we hold about you or your child, and to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. To make a request, email ceo@wattlepaediatrics.online. We may ask you to verify your identity, and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. There is generally no charge for access requests.
10. Making a privacy complaint
If you believe we have breached this policy or the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first at ceo@wattlepaediatrics.online so we can investigate and respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) via www.oaic.gov.au.
